Had een jaren ’50 single van het jaar.

De man op de achtergrond begeleidt haar op dit album en is beroemder gebleven en wel al vaker hier langs gekomen.

One day, wandering through desolate, largely uninhabited territory accompanied by a friend, and thirty miles from the nearest road, he stumbled across a ‘shotgun shack’. Inside he discovered a mountain of broken furniture and general trash. Intrigued, the pair started to sift through the debris and, no doubt to their intense horror, uncovered the dead body of an old man. Feeling incredibly moved, Hamblen sat down, grabbed a pen and began to write the song on a sandwich wrapper. He tried to imagine the house as it would have been in the latter stages of the old man’s life, naturally making no mention of the occupant’s demise, which perhaps wouldn’t have suited such a jaunty country tune.
